Paul Daly, Independent Financial Planner

Paul graduated from Queen Mary College London with a BSc Economics Degree. Thinking that it would lead him to a career in advising clients he then went on to become a trainee accountant which he soon discovered was not for him. Being a very practical person, he developed a career restoring antique and designer furniture both here and in Europe. He ran his own restoration services company for 10 years, the success of which provided the capital to allow him to return to the world of finance and economics. He became a financial adviser in 1986.

He has been a trusted adviser to his clients for a number of years and advises on all areas of financial planning. Paul feels that although he is competent in almost all aspects of financial planning for individuals and small businesses, he sees himself as a bit of a ‘financial GP’ in that having made a financial diagnosis, if he cannot put it right he will refer to either an in-house specialist or to a trusted external adviser to effect the appropriate remedy.

Married with 5 children, Paul’s pastimes and interests out of the office mostly involve sport, both watching and playing football, golf and fishing. Having three sons has seen him through necessity become a qualified cricket umpire and football referee – so a masochist as well as one who abides by the rules and principles. On top of all of these pastimes, he enjoys the freedom afforded to him by motorcycling whenever he can, especially as it affords him quality thinking time away from all distractions.

He is also a member of the Rotary Club of St Marylebone and has been greatly involved over the last few years in the club’s community and charity club, especially during his presidential year 2010-11.
